The Design Story
shital lehereiyaShital LehereiyaSeema teamed up with Chanda and Raghunath, a couple known for their weaving skills, to create a Manchaha rug during winter. They named it "Shital Lehereiya," meaning "Winter Waves." Excited by the colorful yarns they received, they began with a few designs but settled on weaving wavy patterns ("Lehereiya") across the entire rug. To enhance the design, they also added intricate "bindiyaan" dots among the waves. During their weaving journey, they discovered that one of their designs accidentally looked like a worm. Despite their occasional competitive spirit, Chanda and Raghunath appreciated each other's talents. They laughed about their silly fights that led to silent moments on the loom. Eventually, they would start talking again, often sparked by the yarns or designs they were working on. To make the rug personal, they even wove their names into the design. Together, they enjoyed the process of creating this rug that captured the essence of winter with its cool, flowing waves.
