The Design Story
madhubanMadhubanThe drizzling rain, the sweet voice of a peacock, flowers blooming, leaves dancing, and sweet snacks being shared while laughter echoes in the background. This enchanting imagination was the inspiration behind this colorful Manchaha rug. Laali Devi, Komal, and Chandu, mother and daughters respectively, are passionate weavers who enjoy creating together. Each morning, they discuss their weaving plans for the day. Komal, with her creative flair, often brings unique ideas to the table. Inspired by a peacock that visits their terrace every evening, she wove a beautiful peacock on the right side of their rug. Laali Devi, inspired by her favorite rainy season, crafted a delicate umbrella motif. The rug is adorned with various square patterns, reflecting their fondness for the Indian sweet snack ‘Shakkarpara.’ Additionally, they included an assortment of flowers and plants to enhance its beauty. With its depiction of the peacock, forest elements, and decorative motifs, the rug transformed into an enchanting representation of Madhuban (Forest of Sweetness), which inspired the name of their creation.
