The Design Story
sadabaharSadabaharBhagchand and Parvati’s one of the rugs, “Sawan ka Leheriya”, won the European Product Design Awards and many hearts along the way. This carpet is a return to that moment. An act of remembering and re-imagining. Woven directly on the loom, without a design map to follow, the rug grew in real time. In this rug, they began with a familiar, traditional diamond pattern and slowly allowed it to loosen, giving way to colourful ‘leheriya’ (wavy pattern) that came to define the surface. The pattern spread, filled the rug, and took on a rhythm of its own. In Rajasthan’s desert landscape, ‘leheriya’ carries the promise of rain, relief, and renewal. This rug holds that meaning close. When the weaving was complete, they named it “Sadabahar”—evergreen—believing that this design, like the memory it comes from, will never fade.
