The Design Story
aladdin ka chiragAladdin ka ChiragAs kids, we all wished to possess 'Aladdin ka Chirag' just so that we could fulfill our little wishes. Growing up, life teaches us that if we wish for something, we must work for it. Sarita, Kaushalya, Vidya also hope Aladdin will grant their wishes. But all they can do is weave Manchaha as they wish. So, they picked up the yarns and weaved an "Aladdin ka Chirag '' right at the center of the rug. Aladdin's little lamp fascinates them. The artisans named their Manchaha rug "Aladdin ka Chirag. " They even weaved Aladdin's cap on the carpet. There is that lamp just below it. Speaking about the weaving process, they had started the carpet with mapped designs. They weaved clouds, waves, flowers, mountains, bandarbans (decorative door hangings), kites, lakes, webs, doors, grass, and many other elements. The mountains and lakes are from their recent trip to Udaipur. Their hand-knotted rug is magical, and Aladdin smiles at their creativity.
