The Design Story
kuch kuchKuch KuchTaravati, Suman, and Sarnam started their first Manchaha rug with nervous hearts, unsure of what to create. Without any plan, they looked around for ideas and began weaving what they saw. In every line, they tried to weave something different. They started with simple things from their daily lives: huts, earthen pots, butterflies, and cups. As they gained confidence, they tried to capture deeper moments. They wove the changing seasons into the rug, and the arrival of the monsoon came alive with lightning patterns, adding excitement and energy to their work. In the end, they wove what they loved the most: flowers. Living in a village full of greenery, they created patterns of different flowers and plants, showing their love for nature. When the rug was finished, the artisans felt proud of themselves for creating something new. They said they didn’t know exactly what they had created, but they had created “Kuch Kuch,” which means “Something” in English.
