The Design Story
nadi ka safarNadi ka SafarKavita has always felt a deep connection to nature, especially water. As a child, she loved listening to stories about rivers and oceans. Her favorite was about how a river rushes to meet the ocean, full of longing and purpose. As she grew older, she started thinking about the mountains. She believed that while rivers ultimately join the ocean, their journey passes through mountains. She thought rivers heal the mountains, they bring softness to their strength. And the mountains, in return, give the rivers direction and support. When she shared this with her friends, Savitri and Arti, they got so inspired that they decided to weave the journey of rivers through the mountains. This creation shows various rivers cascading down, taking countless paths, and finally merging with the ocean. The top of the rug features mountains in dark yarn, the middle shows the rivers emerging in blue yarn, and the bottom portrays the rivers mingling with the ocean in a hazy design. At the completion of the rug, they named the Manchaha “Nadi ka Safar,” which translates to the “Journey of the River.”
