The Design Story
mithai ke dibbeMithai ke DibbeAs Diwali preparations filled their homes with light and laughter, Shashi, Sapna, Archana, and Soni sat together, weaving. Around this time, they made fresh sweets at home to offer to everyone who visited their home. While they were weaving this rug, the trays of fresh Kaju Katri were being made and cut into perfect diamond shapes, ready to be packed into colorful boxes. This inspired the design for their Manchaha. They began weaving different sizes of diamonds, filling them with intricate patterns. While weaving, they also shared updates about Diwali preparations that kept them in festive spirits. They also decorated their loom with colorful yarns for the festival. When the rug was finished, the design looked like the “Boxes of Sweets,” which is English for “Mithai ke Dabbe." This rug carries the joy of togetherness, the comfort of traditions, and the sweetness of bonds shared over laughter, stories, and a box of mithai passed from hand to hand.
