The Design Story
apne sapneApne SapneThis Manchaha is created by the husband-and-wife duo, Anita and Sanjay, but the real hero behind it is their daughter, Kanchan, whose delightful ideas brought the entire rug to life! The inspiration came from their unforgettable trip to Haridwar, where they saw the holy Ganga river for the first time. They crossed the grand bridge, saw charming boats, even sat on them. It was a magical family experience that stayed close to their hearts. When they received this rug order, it was Kanchan who excitedly suggested, “Let’s weave the Ganga river!” Her parents loved the idea and happily agreed. Kanchan had fallen so deeply in love with the place that she even made a drawing of a home floating on a boat in the middle of the river! Inspired by her adventurous imagination, Anita wove a beautiful houseboat with two little homes on it. Right in the center, she added a tiny doll—Kanchan’s favorite companion that she carried everywhere. It’s her little self, right there on the rug. Kanchan also loves mangoes! There are many mango trees near their home, so Anita added a lovely mango tree next to the boat. And during Karwachauth, women in their village decorate walls with playful doll-like line drawings—Anita brought those joyful patterns into the design too. But the most iconic part of the rug came when they wove in the Ram and Lakshman Jhoola, the famous suspension bridge from Rishikesh. And of course, the flowing waves of the Ganga tied everything together in the most beautiful way. Apne-Sapne (Our Dreams) celebrates the beauty of dreaming, and how a family turned their shared dreams into reality through this heartfelt Manchaha.
