The Design Story
dhunDhunThis rug brings together music and nature, two things that calm the heart. Meenu and her mother, Koyali, began by weaving mountains and plants. They imagined a peaceful place surrounded by nature and brought it to life in this rug. At the center, Meenu wondered what it would be like if, in that silence, the gentle sound of a guitar could be heard. She had never seen a guitar in real life, only on her phone, but she remembered the soothing feeling of hearing it for the first time. She wove that memory into the rug, while her mother filled the guitar with traditional patterns, blending her touch into Meenu’s idea. The top half of the rug bursts with colours, capturing the ecstasy of being in nature while listening to soulful tunes. When it was finished, Meenu named the rug “Dhun,” meaning “Tune.”
