The Design Story
neevNeevRajkumari Devi wove this Manchaha as a story of building a home. It begins with bricks and pillars, the base that holds everything up. From there, the rug moves upward and outward: ladders that climb, flowers that appear, rivers that flow past, and different trees taking root. Above these elements are small details inspired by Diwali decorations seen along village streets - the decorative wall hangings. The rug follows a process. From laying the foundation to adding decoration, Rajkumari Devi wove each stage slowly, the way a home is made over time with work, care, and patience. With this, she named the rug ‘Neev,’ which means ‘Foundation.’
