The Design Story
dharti ke hisseDharti ke HissePrem Devi lives on a hill, surrounded by mountains. That view is always with her, and it always finds its way into her work. In this rug, she has divided the space into many sections. Each one holds a different surface she sees around her—land that shifts in colour, small changes in texture, parts of the landscape that feel separate but connected. Some sections feel still, others more layered. Together, they build a quiet map of her surroundings. She says she feels lucky to live where she does. To wake up every day and see nature in its full form, without going anywhere. This rug comes from that feeling—of noticing what is already there, and holding on to it through her weaving. After finishing the carpet, she named it ‘Dharti ke Hisse’, meaning ‘Parts of the Land’.
