‘Taj’ is a name in reference to the Taj Mahal, Savitri’s design inspiration for this Manchaha. She weaved this rug with her younger sister, working in and out of sync to interpret the patterns in their own unique way. They played with geometric and floral patterns, similar to the patterns on the Taj, but used a range of colour to bring it to life. This rug almost feels like a racing video-game based in historical India, and that validates Savitri’s statement, “This rug came together as my sister and I imagined our children playing together, and it will be a wonderful place for children to have fun.”
