The Design Story
kamli aamKamli AamA dreamy summer delight and a juicy euphoria, Mango is everyone’s favorite. Especially in India, people eagerly await the season to savor its sweetness. Manju Devi is no exception, being a devoted mango lover herself. She wove this particular Manchaha during the summer, and to her delight, the rug's shape resembled a mango. Hence, she named it “Kamli Aam,” after a type of mango. In this creation, Manju has used her favorite ‘leheriya’ (wavy) patterns throughout the rug. She said that she always preferred minimalistic design. Additionally, by blending her yarns and creating a visual treat, she said that sometimes, more than design, colors portray emotions much more effectively, and that is exactly what she has tried to do in this Manchaha.
