The Design Story
taraaju ki belTaraaju ki BelSuraji and Magal have an eye for the unusual. They brought together two different entities in such a simple way yet no one would have imagined. There is an “Aata Chakki” (Flour Mill) in front of their house. They keep observing the way the weighing scale dangles up and down. They find it interesting how it actually forms a zig-zag pattern. This zig-zag pattern is compared to the creeper of a money plant that keeps growing in such an unauthorized manner. Both the movements are similar to each other. Thus this rare comparison created “Taaraju ki Bel” (Creepers of Weighing Scale) as the creative artisans weaved this pattern on the carpet. Their technique was to join one pattern next to another and weave one after another. Joining various patterns created a bigger and more unique pattern. They received different shades of blue. They admit that they constantly think of their designs and try to be as creative as possible.
