The Design Story
phoolon ka rastaPhoolon Ka RastaWoven by Mahendra and Mangal, two artists from Ajmer Jail, this Manchaha captures the spirit of their favorite season—the monsoon. During those rainy days, something beautiful began to happen inside the jail. The path from their cells to the weaving workshop came alive with blooming flowers, small planters, and fluttering butterflies. It was this everyday beauty that inspired the rug. As they worked together on the loom, Mahendra and Mangal began recreating those scenes from memory. Rows of planters appeared, and at the heart of the rug, they designed a lush garden filled with blossoms and butterflies. It was their way of holding on to the joy and color the monsoon brought into their otherwise confined world. The process of weaving became a shared joy for them. Together, they named their creation “Phoolon Ka Raasta”—the path of flowers—a tribute to that magical walk through the blooming corridor, and the journey they took together as friends and artists.
