The Design Story
nurayDesign Story
This rug, inspired by the geometric patterns of Shiraz, showcases subdued red orange/evening blue hues with delicate white borders. The intricate design features small medallions and geometric shapes woven with incredible precision, a testament to the skill of the weavers who crafted it. The combination of red and blue hues adds warmth and beauty to any space, while also telling a story of a rich cultural heritage.
City Story
Shiraz has been a major city since the advent of Iran. The capital of the Fars province in the south, Shiraz, is home to the famous Qashqai tribe. The natural material is treated to have a knot density ranging from 80,000 to 160,000 knots per square meter. The carpets are mostly made by nomadic people. Ghaschghai-nomads live in the city region, and their rug knotting custom dates back a long time. The carpets they make are sold in the city's bazaars under Ghashghai or Shiras (Shiraz). Shiraz carpets have a woolen pile and are woven on a cotton or wool substrate. The style of these nomadic rugs is usually always geometrical. Small medallions or geometric designs are often strewn across the carpets as patterns. Shiraz rugs are most commonly found in strong reds and browns; they are incredibly durable and complement wooden flooring beautifully.
