tajik (c.1920)Antique Tajik Kilim with Geometric Design, Central Asia, circa 1920 Apricot orange and golden daffodil hues enliven the field of this antique Tajik flatweave, organized in bold horizontal bands of blue, ivory, red, and yellow. Within these bands appear stepped diamond devices and hourglass motifs, their geometric simplicity creating rhythm and visual balance. Angular side panels with inset rosettes and serrated edges frame the central bands, lending further structure to the composition. The borders are composed of alternating brown and ivory stripes, accented with repeating geometric details that echo the central forms. This restrained border design enhances the vibrant interplay of color and pattern within the field.
