The Design Story
pawanPawanKasturi created a dynamic manchaha rug named "Pawan," meaning the wind. While weaving the rug, Kasturi was inspired by a gust of wind that lifted light papers and dry leaves off the ground. She laughed at the sight and continued weaving, but the image of the swirling objects in the air stayed with her. To capture this moment, Kasturi used her hand-knotting technique to create a beautiful storm in the center of her hand-knotted carpet using wool and silk yarns, depicting the wind lifting objects off the ground. The finished rug was a stunning representation of the natural elements around her.
