The Design Story
mixtureMixtureAarti's Manchaha has an appropriate name, "Mixture," which has an interesting story behind it. Her rug celebrates the beauty of unexpected accidents leading to something remarkable. Initially, Aarti decided to weave simple patterns of the saree on her loom. One day, while she was away from her loom, her toddler opened all her sarees and started playing with them. Aarti was surprised and angry at the same time, but she couldn't help but find the way the sarees overlapped each other so beautifully. Aarti laughed at the scene and cleaned everything up. Later on, when she sat back down to weave, she couldn't forget the image of the sarees scattered everywhere. This innocent accident inspired her to incorporate the same view in her hand-knotted rug, which she named "Mixture."
