The Design Story
alag aasmanAlag AasmanThis Manchaha speaks of dreams, memories, and unspoken emotions. For Anjana, the rug is a journey back, a return to the warmth of her childhood. While weaving, she is carried to a time when life felt simple and safe. She weaves the soft drape of her mother’s veil on the left in silk. The veil that once shielded her from every storm, and paints her memories over it. She brings to life the little home and the tall neem tree, where she would play for hours beneath its cool shade, and the swing under an endless blue sky. But this time, Anjana does not weave alone. She opens her heart and her loom to her daughters, giving them the freedom to shape their own sky. “God has given us such tiny eyes,” she says, “but the power to hold the entire sky within them.” For her daughters, the sky is a horizon of hope, of dreams, unbound by rules or limits. Their hands move playfully, crafting shapes that speak of the unknown. Where Anjana sees memories, they see possibilities. And yet, amid their unique visions, there is always a meeting point, a bold bindu (dot) woven at the heart of the rug. This red dot is their anchor, a symbol of unity. Like the sun holds the sky together, the bindu is a quiet reminder that no matter where life takes us, we are forever stitched together across time and space, under the same sky.
