The Design Story
laadoLaadoThis Manchaha is an ode to the cherished moments that a family shares together. Manisha is someone who brings whatever she loves onto the canvas of her loom. Manisha got engaged recently. Her parents adorned the whole house with “jhoomars” (Chantelliers), Decorated the home entrance with plants, and fairy lights. She was so excited seeing those jhoomers, she said, before I forget about them, I wove them so that they remain lit up forever. Manisha and her sister have also made flowers and pots which takes them back to their childhood days of playing in the fields. Manisha’s mother also weaves with her daughters sometimes, she made the toys that Manisha and her sister used to play and fight over in their childhood. Her mother captured these sweet memories on the hand-knotted carpet knowing that her daughter is now a big girl who will soon go to her new home. Manisha’s sister weaved a beautiful stage which she imagines will be installed at Manisha’s reception. Besides the hand-crafted stage are little block prints that her mother weaved saying these are the sarees that she will gift her daughter on her wedding. These little details carry a lot of their family’s emotions with which they named their Manchaha, “Laado” meaning beloved daughter.
