The Design Story
neela samandarNeela SamandarLada Devi, Narangi, and Sharda love the ocean. While they have seen the ocean only a couple of times, the beauty and mystery of the sea always inspire them. When the trio received the blue yarns, the inspiration to weave the ocean and its waves sparked. With this inspiration, they started creating the rug “Neela Samandar,” meaning “Blue Ocean.” The design of this rug includes flowing wave patterns in shades of blue, creating a sense of depth and movement. As mountains surround their village, they have also woven the scene of rives cascading through the mountains and surrendering to the vast ocean. At the top, a chandelier is woven to decorate the rug. The weavers' goal was to create a rug that brings the calming essence of the ocean into any home. Seeing the final result, the weavers shared a moment of pride and happiness as it turned out exactly as they had hoped.
