The Design Story
prithviPrithviWhen design inspiration didn’t come easily, artisans Maya, Archana, Saniya, and Maya decided to look at the bigger picture. Instead of weaving what they saw around their home, they chose to create something that represents the home to everyone - Earth. Inspired by the blues and greens of nature, they designed this hand-knotted rug in an abstract way, blending land and water together instead of following the Earth’s geometric patterns. As they worked, they shared light-hearted conversations. Archana said, “We are such a small part of the universe,” amazed by its vastness. Saniya jokingly replied, “The universe is so small that we managed to weave the whole world into this rug.” With these playful moments, their love for nature, and a deep appreciation for the world, they named the rug “Prithvi,” meaning “The Earth.”
