The Design Story

rangeen aasman

Rangeen Aasman
Guddi, Suman, and Sonia wove this Manchaha in winter, just before Makar Sankranti - the famous Kite Flying festival. In their village, that means one thing - kites filling the sky from morning till evening. The lower half of the rug is the land. You can see flowing lines like fields, layers like soil, and shifting bands that feel like open ground. This is where people stand, hold the spool, and look up. Above it, the sky takes over. There are numerous colourful kites scattered in the sky, which inspired the name of the rug ‘Rangeen Aasman’ (Coloured Sky). Guddi and Suman, who are real sisters, said that every year they try to count the kites in the sky, even though it seems impossible. You can sense that joy in the upper half. It feels busy, bright, and full of movement. This rug carries that simple festival happiness.
