The Design Story
laavaniLaavani"Laavani" is a unique Manchaha rug brought to life by the dynamic mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo, Nathi and Priyanka. Their relationship, much like the rug itself, is a blend of sweet and spicy moments, filled with laughter, jokes, and playful tiffs, whether at home or at the loom. Nathi ji, a lively and jolly character, often teases Priyanka, making their time together both fun and memorable. The inspiration for this rug began with the excitement of cricket, sparked by a collaboration between the Royal Rajasthan Foundation and our company. The foundation provided goodies and even took the weavers to watch a match at the Jaipur Stadium. This thrilling experience influenced their design, leading them to weave cricket-related elements such as bats, caps, stumps, and glasses into the fabric. However, as days passed, their focus shifted from sports to their roots in agriculture. The name "Laavani," meaning to harvest crops, reflects this transition. The duo began weaving images of lush, vibrant harvests waving in the fields, bringing the essence of the agricultural season into their work. As the season passed, they found themselves left with only brown colors on the loom, mirroring the emptiness they felt as the vibrant days of harvest came to an end. Through "Laavani," Nathi and Priyanka beautifully encapsulate how their lives and the events around them influence their craft.
