The Design Story
caucasian (c.1930)Made around 1930, this antique Caucasian rug features a Lori Pambek design. The main part of the rug, the field with blocks of velvet red and other earthy colors. Right in the middle, there's a big, angular shape packed with intricate geometric patterns and tribal symbols. A bold navy border goes all the way around, filled with repeating geometric patterns, stylized little flowers, and other designs that perfectly match the rug's tribal feel. It's a wonderful piece that really shows off the rich artistic traditions of Caucasian weaving.
