turkmen (c.1910)Antique Turkmen Geometric Rug, circa 1910, 4' x 7'6" This rug shows a sangria red field with gold brown tones, organized in vertical panels of diamond medallions. Each medallion holds an eight-pointed star, flanked by stepped devices that are typical of Turkmen tribal geometry. The strong use of deep reds with accents of gold, orange, and soft blues reflects the classic Turkmen dye palette, prized for its richness and warmth. The field is framed by narrow geometric borders in red, gold, and brown, with small repeating motifs that echo Turkmen tribal symbols. Its bold color harmony, star medallions, and strict geometry together mark this weaving as a fine example of Turkmen craft and tradition.
