City Story
Kashan produces some of Iran's most beautiful and popular rugs. A rug-making center located on the Silk Road between Tehran, Iran's present capital, and Isfahan, Persia's artistic and historic capital. Kashan carpets are frequently readily identifiable and are among the most beautiful and famous Persian rugs. Antique Kashan carpets, with natural colors and gorgeous natural patinas, are among the most magnificent rugs in Iran. Ivory, red, blue, and light greens are popular colors. The city is home to Iran's oldest existing garden, the Fin Garden, which also serves as a muse for much of the city's architecture.
