The Design Story
sab kuchSab KuchVidya’s Manchaha is titled "Sab Kuch", which means everything. And true to its name, it holds pieces of her entire world. A weaver with over thirty years of experience, Vidya finds joy in the act of creation without overthinking. “Main Manchaha banate waqt dimag nahi lagati,” she says with a smile—"I don’t use my mind while making Manchahas." Her designs flow instinctively, shaped by a lifetime of weaving, and a legacy passed down from her parents, who were both artisans. While her siblings chose different paths, Vidya stayed true to the loom. “Weaving is my favourite work,” she says simply. Her dedication shows in every step. She even installs the warp threads herself, a painstaking process most weavers leave to others. "Sab Kuch" is a reflection of her life, its little joys and surroundings woven in. The mountains near her home, the bricks of her house, the ever-changing sky, drifting clouds, the old neem tree, all find a place in her design. Her children, too, often sat with her, helping her think of new ideas. For Vidya, rug-making is her world. And that’s why she calls her Manchaha, "Sab Kuch."
