The Design Story
neevNeevPaan is a beloved Indian mouth sweetener and freshener with digestive qualities made from betel leaves. And that was the inspiration behind the design of this Manchaha. The artisans Shushma and Bubbly have beautifully weaved this diamond-shaped Paan on the hand-knotted rug with small diamond details indicating all the ingredients wrapped in the leaf. Both artisans tried to include many other things in this Manchaha: A necklace, trees, and the cottages of their village. They also made the designs of these things on the rug, but somehow, they couldn’t bring the vision to life. Nevertheless, they embraced their imperfect designs and realized their crooked attempts provided a strong foundation for everything they love. This strong foundation becomes a very inspiring element for Manchaha Neev.
