The Design Story
posh ka singhaaraPosh ka SinghaaraBeyond their love for weaving, Banni and Mahendra’s Manchaha share a fascination for singhaara (water chestnuts), a winter fruit that holds a special place in their hearts. This fruit is usually grown during the winter season and the couple eagerly awaited for the same. One winter, as they sat around a warm fire, savoring the sweetness of Singhaara they noticed how the fruit was wrapped in the folds of Banni Devi's colorful dupatta, creating a mesmerizing pattern.Mahendra found this unique and had captured this sight and therefore decided to handcraft this on his rug. With unwavering dedication, their hands weaved threads that reflected the folds of the dupatta, stripes and dot pattern it has. Their rug gradually took shape, depicting not only the Singhada but also the emotions and memories associated with it. When the carpet was finally complete, they named it “Posh ka Singhara” which in hindi translates to the season of winter, or (posh). Mahendra and Banni Devi's story was more than just about carpets and fruit; it was a celebration of the simple joys that life brought their way.
