The Design Story
makdi ka jaalMakdi ka JaalA spider spends hours spinning its web, each line delicate yet deliberate. It takes patience, precision, and quiet persistence. And yet, in a single gust of wind, it can all be erased. Sharmila thought of this as she wove. She started with simple boxes, neat and structured, but their rigidness felt unnatural to her. She wanted the design to breathe and grow on its own. So, she allowed the boxes to dissolve, break apart, and metamorphose into something more liberated. Inspired by the fragile strength of a web, she created patterns that stretched and intertwined. Her each knot held a fragment of thought that kept on changing with passing moments. She reflected time through large patches of wandering summer clouds. There are tiny dots scattered across the rug, sparkling like the stars that illuminate her village at night, always there but never the same. Makdi Ka Jaal serves as a meditation on resilience and impermanence. No single pattern defines it, yet every fragment has its place.
