The Design Story
ghar ka rastaGhar ka RastaThis rug is called Ghar Ka Raasta — the way home. It was woven by Vinod, Ratan Singh, and Shyam Lal Singh, three Freedom Manchaha weavers who used this carpet to tell a story from their memories. The lower part of the rug is filled with tiny dots, like counting days. It reflects time spent waiting, working, and slowly finding peace. The staircase in the middle was added as a symbol of hope, hardship, and ultimate growth, showing a path forward. Finally, they wove mountains inspired by the hills near their village with tiny marks showcased as footsteps, each one to reach back home. This design came straight from their hearts, made without any fixed pattern, just memory, imagination, and the dream of going home.
