The Design Story
sitaraSitaraThe exquisite Manchaha rug called Sitara was made by Birbal and Ramotar. Both of them shared a cell. Sitara, which means "stars" in English, is nothing more than a metaphor for hope made of interwoven strands. The weavers have incorporated a variety of items, including kites, boats, lamps, carry bags, and the landline phone they use to communicate with their families while they are incarcerated. They have even added the cup and bottle they use while imprisoned. The rug's entirety alludes to a facet of their existence. In addition, the color scheme employed to bring these pictures to life enhances the rug's appearance despite their beauty.
