The Design Story
patangPatangIn the quiet village of Med, Rajasthan, a rare and remarkable Manchaha rug was born, woven by a mother-daughter trio: Anjana, and her daughters Divya and Bhavana. This was a defining moment in Anjana’s artistic journey. An experienced weaver, she took the center of the loom as she guided her daughters through their first official collaborative creation. This rug is titled "Patang", inspired by the many shapes and forms of kites. Anjana explained that the kites don't always have four corners. She was teaching her daughters how to see the world not as it is, but as it could be. She was showing them how to question the ordinary, how to take a simple spark of inspiration and transform it into something extraordinary. Anjana envisioned a bold, mirrored pillar rising through the center, strong, meditative, and intricately symmetrical. While Anjana worked on the central spine, her daughters filled the flanks, learning to mix yarns, match hues. The same colors echo across the rug, flowing from the mother’s section into theirs, symbolizing both unity and exploration. "Patang" marks the passing of the loom from one generation to the next, and stands as a benchmark in the world of Manchaha. For the first time, a weaver has created such a flawlessly symmetrical piece—crafted entirely from memory and instinct.
