The Design Story
ektaEktaIram, a gifted weaver, sat by her loom, contemplating the endless threads in her hands. Iram wove a rug that symbolized the unity in the diverse cultures of Bharat. As she worked, she began with the intricate mat patterns that had long been her specialty, beautiful designs representing the sacred spaces where the Muslim community bowed in prayer. She paused and looked at the mat designs. They were lovely, but Iram realized that the rug needed something more, a reflection of unity. Inspired by this vision, she began adding more symbols from different faiths and cultures. She wove a vibrant Christmas tree, standing tall and radiant. Next to it, she carefully stitched a glowing diya (oil lamp), a symbol of Hindu devotion. Further along, a glowing candle stood as a symbol of hope. These symbols, distinct yet harmonious, all found themselves submerged in the vast expanse of a symbolic river that stretched across the rug. To Iram, the river is life itself, a force that embraced diversity and bound everything as one. "Rivers never discriminate," she reflected. When the rug was complete, it shimmered like a tapestry of peace, and Iram, with a heart full of hope, named her creation simply "Ekta" meaning “Unity”. Her rug became a visual prayer, a testament that even amidst different paths, love and humanity are the common threads connecting us all.
