The Design Story
shiv shaktishiv shaktiekta kuldeep, sabana, phooldevi, sheela, and kantha are the five names behind this manchaha rug. they chose to name the carpet, “shiva shakti” as in the "power of shiva." the reason behind this religious name is the design of three eyes. they have weaved three eyes of the lord shiva on their manchaha. they had made a plan that whenever they would get more yarns of color, they would use that color as the background. and with the darker colors, they would weave designs on a light background. once, the dark color would end, they would change designs. there are designs of “lehereiya” making it a river. there are a series of boxes and kanta added little leaves on them. they even weaved lamps. they got a design from the tires of tractors. they copied a lot of designs from other carpets that were being weaved around. they even weaved up a board of chess. they were creatively excellent with this hand-knotted rug.
