The Design Story
chadhayeeChadhayeeGuddi, Suman, and Sonia have woven a fond memory with this Manchaha. Across the surface, the lines rise sharply upward, forming mountains through their familiar geometry. The peaks are not drawn in a literal way. They are built through layers of angles, stacked carefully, one above the other. Above the mountains, they have placed a small temple. While sharing the story of this rug, they reminisced about the time when they used to visit their maternal home village, which was surrounded by mountains. Up on one mountain, there was a temple, and to reach there, they had to climb uphill. The climb felt long then, but exciting. They remember walking together, sometimes racing, sometimes stopping to catch their breath and appreciate the view. That shared childhood memory is woven into this rug named ‘Chadhayee,' which means ‘Climb Up.’
