The Design Story

nikhar

Nikhar
Norat Mal has always admired the patterns on Seema’s sarees—the delicate motifs, the way colors play along the borders. One day, he saw a particular leaf pattern on her favorite saree and imagined a way to make it permanent, not just on fabric, but on something that could capture their shared life. Sitting at the loom, he suggested the design, and Seema, still new to weaving, followed his vision, adding her own gentle touches. As the rug grew, the vertical leaf motifs began to dance across the surface, each outlined in a new color, just as the patterns on Seema’s saree shimmered in the light. The layers of stripes became a story of seasons, growth, and togetherness, while the geometric diamonds at the base became a foundation of stability, a symbol of their bond. The rug is a woven gift of love from Norat to Seema.
