The Design Story
saal-girahSaal-GirahTanchan Devi says that the design behind her Manchaha rug was an artificial flower that her sister had gifted to her for her wedding anniversary. She has named the Manchaha ‘Saal-Girah’, which, in Hindi, means ‘anniversary’. Among the many designs in the Manchaha, Tanchan Devi has woven designs of thorns and boxes around the artificial flower to protect it from monkeys and mischievous children.
