The Design Story
asha ka taaraAsha ka TaaraSometimes, all we need to do is look at the sky, gaze at the stars, and hold onto hope, for it is hope that keeps us all going. Mahaveer shares how the stars and the sky fill him with hope. Even in broad daylight as he worked, his mind was occupied with thoughts of the night sky and its stars. This inspiration led him to weave a carpet adorned with stars. He named his Manchaha rug “Asha ka Taara,” which translates to “Stars of Hope,” reflecting the profound significance of stars in his life. With this hope in his heart, Mahaveer wove “Lehereiya” (wavy designs) using light and bright colored yarns, which he prefers over darker hues. His approach was subtle and simple, yet he managed to create a carpet that offers a beautiful view of the stars. He says that even if it is day or cloudy, the sight of the stars will always illuminate the home of whoever buys this carpet.
