The Design Story
asha ki kiranAsha ki KiranThrough every rise and fall in her life, Meena ji has held on to optimism. This Manchaha reflects her courage and her belief that even in the middle of chaos, there is always something that guides you forward. The rug is built in layers of greys and blues, colours she associates with the storms of life. Within this restless surface, Meena has woven bright yellow designs as a sign of hope that never disappears. At the base, the sea churns with heavy waves. Above it, a sandstorm and a rising tornado take form. At the top, dark clouds gather, cut through with flashes of lightning. Yet the yellow remains present throughout. For Meena, this colour stands for the good that stays beside you if you choose to remain strong and positive during difficult times. When the rug was complete, she named it “Asha ki Kiran,” which means “The Ray of Hope”.
