The Design Story
jhoomti raaheinJhoomti RaaheinGanesh and Manbhar live surrounded by fields, crooked village roads, and long open skies. Their days begin early, with work divided between home, animals, and the loom. When they decided to weave this Manchaha together, they did not plan a fixed design. Instead, they thought about their everyday surroundings, the uneven paths they walk, the changing colours of the land through the seasons, and the rhythm of village life. Manbhar began with soft, earthy colours inspired by soil, dry grass, and fallen leaves. Ganesh added stronger zig-zag lines, thinking of ploughed fields, winding paths, and the movement of people and cattle across the land. In an abstract and modern way, they subtly talked a lot about a typical village life and their surroundings through the design of this carpet. Upon finishing the carpet, they named it “Jhoomti Raahein,” which means “Swinging Paths.”
