The Design Story
laal rang ka khelLaal Rang ka KhelKajal and her sister-in-law, Reeta Singh, wove this hand-knotted rug together. It was their first Manchaha, and they were nervous in the beginning. Red was their favorite color, so they were quite happy when they received the red-colored yarns. They said that even if they were scared, they were excited to weave. This transformation, they said, was all thanks to the boldness and brightness of the color. This is why, they named the rug “Laal Rang Ka Khel,” which means “The Play of Red.” In this rug, they wove what they knew best - a mountain from their village, standing tall, with stars shining above. With the completion of the rug, the weavers felt proud of themselves and shared how they also got the motivation to weave a rug with more motifs. This rug is special to them as it gave them the first attempt to weave their own story.
