The Design Story
sanyogiSanyogiSome designs stay with the weaver. Santosh Devi had once made a Manchaha about rivers finding their way to the sea. It was a piece she felt deeply connected to, and one she considered her best. When she received similar yarns again, she chose to return to that idea—but not in the same way. This time, she shaped it in a circular form in a more organic way. At the bottom, she used yellow and golden shades to show sunlight falling on the water. From there, lines begin to move in different directions, like rivers coming from far apart places. They twist, overlap, and slowly come closer. As the patterns meet, they start blending into each other. The movement becomes less separate, more connected—like water losing its boundaries as it reaches the sea. The design builds through this meeting point. Different paths, different flows, all coming together without force. She saw the connection to her earlier piece and chose to give it a similar name - ‘Sanyogi’, meaning ‘United’.
