SurmaWomen have their own ways of keeping up with life. They add colours to every dark cloud. Their colourful attires, ornaments, and their beautiful smile keep them going. One such way is the Surma. Here, a beautiful rug is called “Surma”.Basically, Surma means kajal. Women draw thin and sharp lines around their eyes. This enhances their eyes and keeps them cool during the summer. It's a cooling factor. Gudiya Devi decided on the designs and kept them sharp and pointy just like her sharp eyes adorned with surma. Ghoti balanced Gudiya by weaving soft designs using the wool and silk yarns. This hand-knotted rug is the result of their balance of sharpness and softness. They have a range of designs, for which they got their inspiration from the sweet barfi, waves, snakes, flowers, and leaves. They have used light colours as they like light colours better.
