The Design Story
nimbu – mirchiNimbu – MirchiWeaving her first Manchaha, Chandni Devi took inspiration from everything she loved around her. She shares her delightful story of how she created a protective shield all around her loom to protect her rug from evil eye. As people observed their work, Chandni and Krishan Devi hung "Nimbu & Mirch" above their loom to protect their creativity from any negativity, naming their Manchaha "Nimbu-Mirchi" (Lemon- Chilli).Chandni has hand-crafted clocks throughout her Manchaha, recalling how dedicatedly she invested her time in her rug to ensure its uniqueness. They also incorporated different wavy patterns, taking inspiration from their Chunari (Head Drape) and Sarees. Chandni and Krishna have also hand-crated their love for animals inside the waves, portraying colorful birds, rabbits, and pigeons. Their "Nimbu-Mirchi" stands as a symbol of creativity, protection, tradition, and the love that binds two creative souls together in the artistry of life.
