The Design Story
shiddatShiddatTo relish the freedom of creating is to live to the fullest. Manchaha offers the sweet taste of liberty, but only if you embrace the art of free creation. The trio of artisans enjoyed every minute at their loom, their minds constantly buzzing with creative energy, keeping them excited throughout the process. Each brought unique motifs to the table, often inspired by sarees. They imitated each other's designs, laughing and comparing it to copying exams in school. Their competitive spirit led to playful arguments over designs and yarns, each striving for uniqueness. From barfi motifs (Indian sweets) to intricate patterns in sarees, the ladies worked efficiently and harmoniously. They shared stories, sang songs, and admitted with a laugh that listening to devotional songs while weaving might be the secret behind their masterpiece. Their creativity extended beyond the loom to naming the carpet. Combining one letter from each of their names, they created "Shiddat," a Hindi word for "passion." This collaborative effort not only brought them closer but also enriched their artwork. "Shiddat" truly reflects their dedication and joy in weaving this hand-knotted rug.
