The Design Story
phool baazarPhool BaazarManju loves flowers, especially the kind found in busy village markets. "Phool Baazar" (Flower Market) is inspired by those mornings filled with movement and voices. Phool Baazar begins at the bottom, where large, grounded diamond forms appear—like the first sacks of flowers laid out on the earth at dawn. As the rug moves upward, the space breaks into smaller sections, much like stalls opening one by one. Repeating floral motifs resemble marigold garlands, while zigzag and chevron lines capture the movement of people, hands passing flowers, and voices filling the air. Scattered dots feel like fallen petals and pollen, marking the rhythm of buying and selling. At the top, the patterns grow lighter and more delicate, as if the market has fully come alive, overflowing with color and scent. Phool Baazar is Manju’s way of weaving a familiar world where flowers, labor, and joy rise together, from the ground up.
