The Design Story
khushiKhushiKrishna, one of our fastest and finest weavers, was often tasked with high-priority industrial orders due to her exceptional skills. Longing to weave a Manchaha rug, she seized the opportunity when she found an extra Manchaha rug order on another loom in her village and convinced the branch manager to let her take it home. Teaming up with her daughter-in-law Suman and relative Geeta, the trio sought inspiration from their surroundings. Initially, they explored intricate designs, but inspiration struck when Krishna saw a simple cauliflower in her kitchen. This humble vegetable inspired her to create a beautiful floral motif, marking the beginning of their journey as artists. They continued to draw from their surroundings, transforming everyday elements into their work. The brick walls of their home inspired a multicolored brick pattern, while the aankda tree, a local flowering plant revered in their worship, contributed to the rug’s design. One distinctive feature of their creation is the coordination of designs. Suman, the amateur weaver, often sat in the middle, collaborating with Krishna or Geeta, and sometimes mirroring Krishna’s designs or combining efforts with Geeta. This collaborative spirit and their thoughtful planning are reflected in the final piece. Upon completing the final rug, the trio named their rug, “Khushi” meaning “Happiness”. They lovingly shared how this rug incorporates the happiness of our family, ourselves, and also the buyer, as this carpet will bring joy and laughter wherever it goes.
